Stop Corrosion With The Power Of Zinc
Rehabilitate Corroding Structures in Seawater with the Original and Best.
The LifeJacket® cathodic protection system, offered by ARTAZN™, provides long-term remediation to corrosion degradation for both steel and steel-reinforced concrete structures subjected to premature failure from chloride induced corrosion. The technology was developed by ARTAZN™ and the Florida DOT, Materials Office in the early ‘90’s.
The Problem: Chloride Induced Corrosion
Structural integrity compromised by the effects of corrosion is major concern for our infrastructure. Chloride induced corrosion is a significant form of corrosion. The Federal Highway Administration has stated that cathodic protection is the “only rehabilitation technique proven to stop corrosion in salt-contaminated structures, regardless of chloride content”.
That is, effective remediation of structures must include a strategy to attack the source of the problem, corrosion, and provide effective rehabilitation.
The LifeJacket system does both!

LifeJacket® Product Features

The patented LifeJacket® system uses zinc mesh anodes inside stay-in-place fiberglass jackets/forms, often with supplemental bulk zinc anodes below the water-line the water. This galvanic cathodic protection (GCP) system has a 25+ year design life and effectively prevents further corrosion damage and rehabilitates the structure in one step.
Our LifeJacket® system is a smart system that is:
- Easy to install
- Self-regulating
- Maintenance-free
- Cost-effective
- Proven technology
- Ideal for remote locations
- A long-life protection solution
- Documented to satisfy NACE RP0290 (100 mV polarization criteria for adequate cathodic protection)
The LifeJacket® has been installed in most of the coastal states in the U.S and continents in the world, with more than 22,000 installations to date.
The LifeJacket® system is simply the right choice when considering a life-cycle cost perspective, in most cases, and is the sensible alternative to traditional repair strategies that require reapplication of materials or continued maintenance and monitoring over the life of the structure. LifeJacket® is a self-powered, smart system, which means current output will self-adjust to meet changes in temperature, humidity, and other variable factors.
Our team offers assistance in guiding the structure owner and engineer through the evaluation and specification process as well as support during and after the award of the project.
